The Artsplace mare was in punishing form in the Golden Girls heat for 2-4 win mares, dispatching her six rivals by four lengths in 2.03.6 for the 1700m.
The 4yr-old has taken to southern racing with aplomb since arriving at West Plains, near Invercargill, to be trained by Andrew Armour following 27 starts for Canterbury trainers David and Catherine Butt.
Bedtime had shown promise early in her career, winning her first start, and placing fifth behind Twist And Twirl in the 2011 3yr-old Sires Stakes Fillies Final in Auckland. However, the Butts felt a new outlook on her racing life would help.
''The change of scenery seems to have got the best out of her, because she was always a good 2 and 3yr-old,'' Armour said.
Bedtime won the first heat of the Golden Girls for mid-grade mares at Invercargill on May 18, which rules her out of another start after last night's win. Armour may bring the mare back for another run before the Golden Girls final on June 28.
''She's going good from bad draws and she's really low-flying at the moment.''
Mullingar Mac claimedMullingar Mac was claimed for $6000 by Art Shirley and Neville Cleaver, of Invercargill, after finishing third behind Cullen's Finest in the third heat of the claimers series. He will now be prepared by Ryal Bush trainer Nathan Williamson.
Shirley has just sold Major Deed, who was scratched from the 2-3 win handicap pace last night. The Art Major colt will be heading to Tony Peacock in Victoria.
Bully boy comes goodFranco Normandy is the big schoolyard bully boy come good.
The giant son of McArdle, who picked up his second win in succession courtesy of a passing lane run at Forbury Park last night, gained a reputation early on as a pacer who could cost his owners Lindsay and Ian Thomson a lot of money - even before making his race debut.
''He was a bit nasty when he was young,'' Invercargill trainer Alister Black said.
''He used to like trying to destroy carts - but he's come out of that.''
He had two starts in May last year and another in December before winning from a parked position at Winton last month.
''He's had trouble along the way with quarter cracks [to his hooves] just with being so big.
''We always knew he had the ability. It was just a matter of getting things right with him and keeping him happy.''
Roxy Rocket was relegated from first to last after shifting inwards on Flyin Armalight with 300m to go in the 0-1 win Golden Girls heat. Arma Courage, who finished second, was promoted to first.
