• Nigel McIntyre and Ross Neal have been appointed joint chief stipendiary stewards of the Racing Integrity Unit.
Mike Godber will assume the role of general manager. The appointments were announced in a statement.
Cameron George, the chief stipendiary steward, has resigned to take the position of chief executive officer of the Auckland Racing Club in the middle of next month.
Neal and McIntyre have been stipendiary stewards for several years.
Godber has been operations manager of the RIU.
Neal will re-locate from Wellington to Auckland. Nigel McIntyre will continue to operate from Christchurch.
Michael Zarb has been appointed a stipendiary steward based in Christchurch following the resignation of Andrew Ray.
Zarb has been a stipendiary steward for Racing New South Wales, the Singapore Turf Club and more recently the Macau Jockey Club. He takes up his appointment in September.
The owners of Delightful Christian and Precious Mach have requested the testing of B-samples of urine swabs, Godber said.
Delightful Christian, a winner, and Precious Mach (fourth) tested positive from the Harness Jewels meeting.
• Trainer Mick Price says an extra week will benefit stable newcomer Night War, who resumes racing at Flemington today.
AAP reports Price decided to miss the Monash Stakes at Caulfield last Saturday when the track became heavy.
"I came to the conclusion that it would require a very fit horse to win on a track like that, so we decided to wait another week and bank on the track at Flemington being in better shape."
Night War is in the Monjon Australia Handicap (1000m).
She will be ridden by Craig Newitt, who is tied with Luke Nolen in the Melbourne jockeys' premiership.
"I thought she would be a good chance last week.
"With the extra week's work under her belt, it'll be nice to have her on my side," Newitt said.
Night War won five of her nine starts including the group two Karrakatta Plate and gr three Lee Steere Stakes and earned almost $600,000 in Western Australia when trained by Simon Miller.
She is a half-sister to Samaready, trained by Price and ridden by Newitt to win the Blue Diamond Stakes.
"She's one of the smallest 3yr-olds we've got, but she's got a stack of ability," Newitt said.
Price said Night War would be better suited all round at Flemington.
"It's a much better choice of races and I really couldn't be happier with her."
• Trainer Neville Layt is expecting a bold bid from One More Grand in the Flight Services Handicap at Rosehill today.
Layt trains at Quenbeyan, near Canberra.
The 4yr-old will be having his third run back from a spell.
"If he's ready to win it's now, so now is the time to bring him to Sydney," Layt said.
One More Grand resumed with a solid third at Canberra under 60.5kg and again made ground when sixth at Gosford.
Layt said the gelding was more settled this campaign and able to be ridden back in the field.
One More Grand has won five of his 26 starts and almost $170,000 prizemoney.
Layt trained Karuta Queen, winner of six six of her 15 starts and $1.7 million.
She was sold to John Singleton at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in May.
Karuta Queen may race for a different trainer before retiring to stud.
