Jag's Invasion has two wins on his record but one was penalty-free. The $25,000 Four-Year-Old Championship at Addington next Friday night has a two-win front.
Jag's Invasion gained his initial win at Winton on December 29 by seven lengths. The 4yr-old won his next start at Oamaru and he was unlucky when second at Addington in his subsequent start. He was checked and left stride on the home turn when back in the field and finished fast along the inner.
Jag's Invasion is trained by Phil Williamson, who has Springbank Sam qualified for the Four-Year-Old Championship. Springbank Sam recorded his eighth win when successful at Gore on Sunday. He is off 20m in the Addington race.
San Rafaella, winner of the Equine Stakes in 1.54.8 for the mile at Winton in December, rates highly in the final of the Southern Belle Speed Series Final over that distance tomorrow. A last-start winner at Addington on February 4, she has won seven of her 13 starts.
Southern Sun could prove a worthy opponent for San Rafaella. She has blossomed this season since transferring to the Makarewa stable of Tony Stratford. The 7yr-old mare has won her last four starts, including a 1.55.6 mile rate 1700m (mobile) at Ascot Park since finishing fifth in the Equine Stakes.
Steven McRae, the Halswell trainer of San Rafaella, has Cracker Black a top chance in race 7.
Cracker Black won the Gore Cup in December at the expense of Franco Ledger, who carried on to win the Central Otago, Waikouaiti and Wyndham Cups.
