Charlie Macsheen, part-owned at Weedons by Ian and Tineke Lochhead, won the $A100,000 Vicbred Final for 2yr-olds at Melton on Friday night.
Mr Lochhead (74), a long-time breeder, and his wife, Tineke, race Charlie Macsheen with the retired Melbourne horseman Ted Demmler and his wife, Merryn.
Charlie Macsheen was driven by trainer Geoff Webster.
The Lochheads, formerly of Ashburton, and the Demmlers began an association racing Lady Of My Life, the dam of Charlie Macsheen. He is by Mach Three.
The daughter of Live Or Die and Seduction, bred by the Lochheads, won three races.
Lady Of My Life is a half-sister to Ready For Love, winner of nine races in New Zealand and Australia. He ran 1.52.8 in the United States.
"She [Lady Of My Life] became very temperamental and we decided against bringing her back to New Zealand," Mrs Lochhead said.
Her first foal, Renata Christa (by Christian Cullen), was a winner but was later found dead.
Charlie Macsheen won in a 1.58.8 mile rate for the 2240m (mobile) with Soho Valencia and Fly Like An Eagle in the minor placings.
Mach Three also sired Mach Alert, who won the $A100,000 group one Queensland Derby at Albion Park on Saturday night.
Mach Alert was bred by Regency Wools (NZ) Ltd and Studholme Bloodstock operated by Brian West, of Coes Ford.
Mach Alert was sold for $56,000 at the 2008 NZ Premier Yearling Sale. Mach Alert, owned by Paul Montgomery, of the Gold Coast, joined the Queensland stable of Wayne Graham in December after a third placing in three starts as a 2yr-old for Tim Butt.
Mach Alert has also won the group two Premier's Cup Final on the Gold Coast from five starts.

• Animal Kingdom, winner of the Kentucky Derby in May, is recovering from surgery for a fracture to his left hind leg, AFP reports.
The Team Valor International ownership group said the colt had two screws inserted to compress a hairline slab fracture.
The operation was carried out at the New Bolton Centre in Pennsylvania.
The fracture, discovered in a CT scan, would have healed but the insertion of two screws will provide the best chance to prevent arthritis from developing in the leg.
