Alhambra-Union will host Dunedin in the final of the Dunedin women’s premier grade this weekend.

It is a repeat of last year’s final, and the Crazy Horses will be hoping for a similar outcome.

They beat Dunedin 29-24 last year in an epic game. The Church sisters — Jamie and Paige — scored three tries between them to help AU claim their first title in 11 years.

AU made this year’s final with a 27-7 semifinal win over University at the North Ground on Saturday.

The Church sisters featured prominently again. They bagged a try each and talented halfback Georgia Cormick knocked over four penalties.

In the other semifinal, Dunedin edged Clutha 33-15. Winger Hannah Norris had a blinder, notching four tries.

Dunedin actually scored six tries and would have won by more but they missed all six conversion attempts.

Sheree Hume did knock over a penalty in what was the only success with the boot in the entire game.

AU have had the wood over Dunedin this season.

They beat them 50-5 in round two. But in May they had to work a lot harder for a 41-31 win. They scored three late tries to grab victory in that one.
