
In what should be an action-packed day of footy festivities, the Clutha club will cap off the day with a match against old rivals Crescent, with both the Centennial Cup and McIntosh Cup on the line.
Clutha are on top of the ladder by a single point and will come into this match fresh after having the bye last weekend.
Crescent lost the Eddie Scott Memorial to Toko last weekend but showed some glimpses of their best in the first half. Crescent has been without key players for a few weeks now but is slowly starting to get them back.
Clutha should be too strong in this one, however.
There are two trophies on the line at Swamp Hen Park in Owaka as second-placed West Taieri do battle with the fourth-placed home side, who have surprised many with their performances this season.
West Taieri is keeping Clutha honest at the top of the table after a bonus-point win over Lawrence last weekend, despite being behind at halftime.
Owaka spoiled Clinton’s jubilee party last weekend with a less-than-enthusiastic win, but their first bonus-point win of the season. West Taieri will rightly be called favourites for this match.
Clutha Valley host Clinton for the Brian Steel Memorial at Clydevale. Valley has some players missing this weekend, but should still have enough about them to beat Clinton, who are yet to win a match this season.
Valley scored a good win over Heriot at Death Valley last weekend to bring some confidence into this match.
Toko host Heriot in what should be a fantastic encounter at Milton. Toko carried on its superb run of form over Crescent last weekend.
Heriot’s mistakes cost them dearly last weekend and they will be desperate for redemption here.
