Rugby: Cooper lets boots do talking

First five-eighth Quade Cooper went to the top of the class when he joined the 100% club on Saturday night.

Cooper (25) was dropped from the Wallabies when Robbie Deans was the coach but was reinstated when Ewen McKenzie took over the reins after the Lions series.

Cooper was given the goal-kicking duties against the All Blacks and landed six goals from his six attempts, adding a drop goal to score 18 points.

It was the first time he had produced a perfect night when given the kicking duties in a test.

''I'm pretty happy with that,'' Cooper said after his 45th test.

''It's something we all work hard at. It was special to come out on the field and get 100% under pretty tough circumstances.''

Cooper's performance was the perfect response to the sections of the crowd that booed him at every attempt at goal.

''It's not something I enjoy but I've come to expect it. You can't silence it. All you can do is to kick well and do your job for the team.''

Cooper is pleased with his form and wants to help the Wallabies to get back on the winning track.

''I'm working hard and contributing as much as I can to the team in a positive way on and off the field,'' he said.

''After the loss to South Africa we said that we had to stick together and work hard, if we want to become a world-class team and be the best in the world.''

It was special for halfback Will Genia (25) to have Cooper back with him in Genia's 50th test for the Wallabies.

''I love playing with Quade,'' Genia said.

''I thought he had a good game tonight and controlled the team around the park really well and his goal-kicking was exceptional.''

Genia was pleased to reach his own milestone.

''I'm humbled and blessed to have reached 50 tests for Australia,'' he said.
