With just one more round to be completed Taieri can't be beaten in the Speight's Mug competition in Dunedin Premier Rugby.

Hard working No 8 Charlie O'Connell and strong running wing Kieran Moffat were the key players in Taieri's second half comeback to beat Dunedin 42-20 at Kettle Park today. For more photos from the game click here

It leads the competition with 37 points and is followed by Alhambra-Union 30, Southern 28, Dunedin 26, Kaikorai 21, Pirates 14, Zingari-Richmond 13, Green Island 12, University A 11 and Harbour 8.

Elsewhere Cam Rutherford was in devastating form and scored 22 of Kaikorai's points when they held on to beat Green Island 49-42 in a free scoring game at Bishopscourt.

The other standout player for Kaikorai was fullback Tony Ensor who used his blistering speed to score two tries.

Alhambra-Union held on in the second spell to beat University A 28-16.

Strong running centre Apelu Alapati was dangerous with the ball in and played a dominant role when Southern beat Harbour 28-19.

Pirates were more committed in the forwards and their dominance at the breakdown helped them to beat Zingari-Richmond 19-14 in the Centennial Trophy match at Montecillo.
