Rugby: McGlashan falls again to OBHS

John McGlashan College suffered its second loss of the Highlanders First XV competition in a 43-5 defeat by Otago Boys' in Dunedin today.

McGlashan lost its first round game against OBHS 66-3 but won its next seven games before losing again to its city rival.

Otago Boys' dominated up front with the driving play of its pack, and hard-tackling flanker Matt Heffernan stopped the McGlashan attempts to attack.

King's kept hold of the ball in the second spell to win a hard-fought game against Menzies College 15-3 in wet conditions in Dunedin, with tighthead prop Himiona using his strength to score a try.

South Otago defied the cold and wet conditions to attack from all quarters to beat Central Southland College 77-7 at Balclutha. They scored 13 tries, wing Osca Goodlett bagging three.

Dunstan overcame the conditions when they scored eight tries in beating James Hargest 50-7 at Riverton. Wing Logan Cornish scored two tries.

Results, Top 8: King's 15 - Menzies 3; Otago Boys' 43 - John McGlashan 5; Southland Boys' 50 - Mt Aspiring 7; St Kevin's 33 - Waitaki Boys' 12.

Bottom 6: South Otago 77 - Central Southland College 7; Dunstan 50 - James Hargest 7. St Peter's v Gore will be played later.
