Erakovic, 21 with a current ranking of 253, but using an injury protected ranking of 83, was dispatched 6-2 6-0 by Chinese 16th seed Li Na in 51 minutes.
Li Na hit 23 winners compared to Erakovic's nine and had a 79 percent first serve success rate, while Erakovic hit only 56 percent.
The loss means Erakovic has continued a bad run of results since returning from injury late last year. She was beaten in the first round of the recent ASB Classic in Auckland and has not won a match in a WTA tournament since Memphis in February 2009.
