Dunedin’s student volunteers will help clean and restore graves on Saturday.

A joint initiative between the NZ Remembrance Army and Student Volunteer Army (SVA), the Restore to Remember event will take place at various locations around the country.

Members of the Otago SVA will be at Dunedin cemeteries, including Andersons Bay and Green Park.

There were locations around the country, so even though it was mid-semester break for university students, people could still get involved at a location outside of Dunedin by signing up on the SVA app or online, Otago SVA president Paris Fan said.

"Anyone can get involved, you don’t have to be a student, so grab your friends and family," Ms Fan said.

"This is an important event for us to be a part of in order to honour and respect the sacrifices of our service people since World War 1 and remind us to acknowledge the reason we celebrate Anzac Day.

"It’s a great way for younger generations to connect with the history of this national holiday in a meaningful way."
