Instead of having a physical gathering, this year’s Audacious student startup challenge began in Dunedin this week with a virtual one instead.
Determined for it to go ahead, programme manager Rachel Butler said they had been looking at ways to mimic the programme, just online.
There was a "definite need" for routine, consistency and distraction during the uncertainty of the Covid-19 outbreak, Ms Butler said.
Student numbers had doubled this year, as 100 applied for semester one of Audacious, and there were now two cohorts.
Ms Butler attributed the increased interest in the programme to a focus on increasing brand awareness.
Students were also excited about "making the world a better place", she said.
