Dairy commodity prices lifted on Fonterra's overnight online auction this week for the first time since early June.
The GlobalDairyTrade trade weighted index rose 1.7%, with the average winning price of $US3540 a metric tonne.
Whole milk powder increased 5.7% to $US3503 ($NZ4412) a tonne and skim milk powder lifted 3% to $3292.
Rennet casein dropped 14% to $7040, cheddar dropped 8.4% to $3497, milk protein concentrate dropped 6.4% to $6295 and anhydrous milk fat fell 1.7% to $3645.
Fonterra has been granted a temporary increase in loading limits to help manage the big increase in milk flows throughout the country.
Increased milk production has been putting pressure on the co-operative's milk collection, manufacturing and the supply chain.
Its tanker fleet will be able to collect an additional 1.2 million litres daily, after Government agencies gave consent to increase the operating weight of the tankers from 44 tonnes to 45 tonnes until the end of the year.
