Glenn Coates was this week named as Aurora’s new asset management and planning general manager, and will take up his role on March 26.
He was working as Orion’s network growth and planning manager in Christchurch.
Aurora chief executive , in a written statement, said Mr Coates would be responsible for Aurora’s network and asset management strategy, lifecycle and growth planning, engineering and design.
Mr Coates was "highly experienced" and had been instrumental in the post-earthquake recovery of Christchurch’s electricity network.
He would make a valuable contribution to Aurora’s network renewal plans, as well as helping "mature" the company’s asset management approach, Mr Fletcher said.
