NZ sportswear firm expands into Europe, America

New Zealand sportswear maker Canterbury, which produces the shirts worn by the Scottish rugby union team, will this week open its first retail outlet in Europe.

Canterbury, which also supplies Glasgow Warriors, will open at the new Westfield shopping mall in west London, the Sunday Times in Britain reported.

More openings are planned for the UK, Ireland and continental Europe, and the company is also planning to open in New York.

Canterbury lost its longstanding relationship with the All Blacks to multinational Adidas, which is paying the New Zealand Rugby Union $200 million over nine years.
