Vodafone hikes iPhone 4 price

Vodafone has increased the price of the iPhone 4, and will now charge $330 more for the smartphone on some contracts.

A two-year, $40.85 a month plan for the 16 gigabyte handset had cost $619, but will now set customers back $949, Stuff reports.

The 32GB handset on the same plan is now $1129, up from $799.

Vodafone is the only carrier with official rights to sell the iPhone in New Zealand, although the smartphones do work on Telecom and 2degrees networks.

Vodafone subsidises the cost of the handset in return for customers committing to fixed-term contracts.
