Auckland playwright Roger Hall shared some of his playwriting secrets with aspiring playwrights and novelists and presented a two-hour talk yesterday, "Fifteen Years to be an Overnight Success", about the beginning of his career.

The former Dunedin playwright and 1977 and 1978 University of Otago Burns Fellow has written more than 40 plays, television series and musicals.

The Fortune Theatre will present Hall's latest play, A Short Cut to Happiness, from November 18 to December 17.
