Some of the best artworks in the Wakatipu get a rare airing in an exhibition opening in Arrowtown on Saturday.
"Showing Favourites" features privately-owned works which have been loaned to the museum by residents.
"I was absolutely thrilled with the response and generosity of local people who were only too willing to lend their beautiful works.
"They were happy to be able to share these paintings with the wider public," Lakes District Museum director David Clarke said.
"The exhibition will be a showcase of some of New Zealand's best known artists; from the early explorer artists to present day contemporary artists.
"I doubt whether a collection of this variety has been held under the one roof in the Wakatipu."
More than 70 artists will be represented, including L. W. Wilson, Christopher Aubrey, Evelyn Page, Douglas Badcock, Grahame Sydney, Bill Hammond and Michael Illingworth.
"Showing Favourites" opens on Saturday at the Lakes District Museum in Arrowtown and runs until February 28.
