Jigsaw Man

It's complicated. The detective inspector of the story, Tartaglia, has a drunken one-night stand with a woman he meets in a bar.

At the same time, and in the same West London hotel, a woman is murdered.

Not just any woman, but the sister of a detective who used to work on his team. Then a case he is investigating, that of a body in a burnt-out car, turns out to be no accident and not one body, but the parts of four assembled into one. Complicated, but a compelling if somewhat gruesome read.
