Console warriors: Guitar Hero and Halo 3

Let it be . . . true

Beatles and Guitar Hero fans could be set for a beautiful relationship.

A top executive at Sony/ATV Music, the publishing company that owns the John Lennon-Paul McCartney copyrights, has revealed a dedicated Beatles version of the video game could be in the works.

Guitar Hero is already planning a dedicated Aerosmith version of the game, which puts a virtual guitar in players' hands and tests their ability to hit buttons in time with the song.

More Halo 3 goodness

With more than seven million copies of Halo 3 in gamers' hands, Microsoft is expecting the next wave of downloaded content for the game to find plenty of good homes.

Available through Xbox Live on April 15, the Legendary Map Pack will introduce three new maps to the title's multiplayer experience.

Two have names, Ghost Town and Avalanche, while a mysterious third map and new Forge options have also been developed.

Happy birthday, Xbox 360

Microsoft is marking two years since the Xbox 360 was released in New Zealand by holding a Konsoles for Kids charity auction.

Ten consoles with autographed images of famous faces, from Dan Carter to Nicky Watson, will be up for auction on TradeMe.

There are nearly 50,000 Xbox 360s in New Zealand homes, part of an 18 million worldwide market.

GT5 Prologue sold out

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue has made a stunning impact on the European market, selling out all initial shipments.

The game, featuring 60 cars and six tracks, is also available for download on the PlayStation Network, but it seems Euro gamers still prefer getting a hard copy of the disk. The game was released in New Zealand last week.
