CD Reviews: John Butler Trio

As regular as triennial political skulduggery, the John Butler Trio trot out another collection of roots rockers that sound not too dissimilar to their preceding five albums.

Dripping with good karmic vibes and a weighty social conscience, Butler seems able to draw from an endless well of songs that showcase his undoubted vocal talent set against the backdrop of gently plucked guitars and all manner of percussion.

However, when he flicks the switch, plants his foot on the overdrive pedal and lets his dexterous digits do the talking, things make way more sense.

  • John Butler Trio. Flesh and Blood.
  • 3 stars out of 5.
