CD Reviews: Robert DeLong

In making the transition from indie-rock drummer to synth-pop wunderkind, Robert DeLong has brought with him an appreciation for song-based grooves.

With the vocal such a key element of his dance-oriented electronica, he is nothing if not involved in all elements of his craft, but tracks such as the wordy, Vampire Weekend-channelling Few Years Make suggest he still hankers after something of his former life.

The album starts strongly and fades in the back half, but numbers such as hit single Global Concepts suggest this innovative shaper of sound will turn out some interesting stuff.
