Tonight Carisbrook hosts its last All Blacks rugby test match, when the men in black take on Wales.

Meanwhile, the nationwide State of Rock tour hits Sammy's like a a solid front row.

Organisers say the State of Rock show is timed to begin just after the end of the match.

Luger Boa is headlining the tour of high-flying acts.

Frontman Jimmy Christmas says the tour is a big one for the band, and he intends to tackle it head-on.

"Well, I'm definitely going to grab hold of it with both hands, aim a head butt squarely between the eyes and use its enormous height and weight to my advantage."

He says the band has just finished album No 2, has had the pleasure of hearing its singles "start blazing on the wireless", and looks forward to a full-length release in September.

He says people should expect reasonably great things from Luger Boa's set - should the plan come together.

"A sense of unadulterated joy, if everything goes to plan! We work very hard at writing great material, rehearsing it to a high standard then introduce a couple of generous vodkas and throw caution to the wind.

"It seems to work for us, and by all accounts, a lot of others too. I like a show when not even the band knows exactly what's going to happen."

He says when they are not making music together the band members have other irons in the fire.

"Sam is rebuilding a classic automobile from the early '70s; Ryan is hard at work assembling the most devilish curry known to humankind; Joe has just been accepted as an experimental case study for research into severe cases of jazz; and Simon is currently missing, presumed punk.

"It's all I can do to maintain the helm of a high-speed musical vehicle that threatens to explode at any given moment. It's a good life. See you on the tour!"
