Unique experiences Criffel Station

Immersed within the rugged Central Otago landscape, overlooking the Lake Wanaka Basin, lies Criffel Station, a 2000-hectare high-country deer farm that is home to over 5000 deer, as well as cattle and sheep.

Privately owned and operated by fifth-generation locals, Criffel has a long history, beginning with gold- mining 150 years ago. Fuelled by the current tourism boom, the station has expanded into a plethora of interest areas.

Guests are offered the opportunity to get out of their everyday environment, with the station offering a stunning backdrop for weddings, corporate, and tourism events and activities. Criffel Station's authentic Woolshed, with its undeniable character, provides a charming location from which to enjoy the idyllic high country farm.

Along with offering professional wedding planning and event management services, Criffel Station now also offers a diverse range of activities and services.

These include tours in late-model 4WDs to the top of the station, walks, bike rides, helicopter journeys, and accommodation.

The accommodation features renovated cottages, or the "glamping" alternative, where guests enjoy pop-up bell tents, situated high up in the tussocks, away from technology and any urban interferences.

The friendly and knowledgable staff pride themselves on tailoring the guest's experience to the individual, as well as the rich local history.

Criffel Discovery Tours enables an "up close and personal" insight into the property, New Zealand tourism and farming, and the importance of sustainability.

Through its management, the Station integrates "One Health" principles, with a clear focus on the optimal health of water, the environment, animals, and people.
