Police smash Lone Wolf gang in rural NSW

Outlaw bikie members across NSW should be "looking over their shoulder" after a local chapter of the Lone Wolf gang was shut down by authorities, police say.

Officers arrested 12 people in a series of early-morning raids on Wednesday along NSW's north coast, including homes in Coffs Harbour, Sawtell and Middle Boambee.

They also stormed the Lone Wolf clubhouse on Hulberts St in Toormina.

The alleged bikie members are expected to face multiple charges, from drug and violence offences to participating in a criminal gang.

It follows an extensive investigation by detectives from Strike Force Oriental, set up in January last year, to investigate the alleged criminal activity involving Lone Wolf members and associates.

Coffs/Clarence Local Area Commander Mark Holahan said Wednesday's operation, involving local officers, the dog squad and detectives from Sydney's Strike Force Raptor, had effectively dismantled the gang's headquarters in the region.

"We've removed a number of assets and paraphernalia from their clubhouse, so we're hoping that that chapter will not re-establish itself and we'll work hard to make sure that doesn't happen," Superintendent Holahan told AAP.

He said the operation also sends a number of messages to the wider outlaw bikie gang community.

"I think it'll make a number of outlaw motorcycle gangs look over their shoulder," Supt Holahan said.

"All motorcycle gangs cannot feel comfortable in rural environments.

"Their actions are being closely monitored and watched and, when appropriate, all the resources that we have available will be brought to bear to negate their activities."

Supt Holahan said many residents in Coffs Harbour were nervous about the presence of local outlaw motorcycle gangs, including the Finks, Gladiators and Outcasts.

"They are not benevolent societies, they're actually criminal enterprises," he said.

"We need to do everything we can to dismantle those criminal enterprises or interrupt their business."
