OUSA position filled

The position of Otago University Students' Association's (OUSA) international students officer has been filled after the second by-election for the role this year.

Yee Min Chua, from Malaysia, won the latest by-election after she stood unopposed for the position. She received 82.76% of 145 votes, with 17.24% of voters saying they had no confidence in her as the sole candidate.

This comes after four OUSA vacancies were filled in March through a by-election, but international students officer Ding Yi Ding resigned, forcing the latest by-election.

OUSA president Logan Edgar said at the time the Chinese national had to go home unexpectedly.

Before the latest by-election, Ms Chua said her aim was to make "everyone feel at home in Dunedin".

"I promise to do my very best to cater to the welfare of all international students, and I believe that my involvement working with OUSA will help," she said.
