ANDREA VOYCE
2013: Captain of the school’s A netball team and softball team, Voyce had also been awarded its citizenship trophy three years in a row. She hoped to become an early childhood teacher.
2023: Oamaru-based Voyce worked as a junior cheesemaker at Whitestone Cheese and as a relief teacher for the OamaruKindergarten Association, before becoming a stay-at-home mum to her daughter, born in January this year.
She has a New Zealand certificate in nanny education and completed two years of a bachelor of teaching in early childhood. She no longer plays sport but would like to get back into softball.
Her daughter was born with a rare congenital birth defect and the pair spent 75 days in hospital before being allowed to go home.
"It was definitely a challenging experience," she says.
