Allied Press and the Otago Daily Times have been named as finalists in nine categories of media awards.
The ODT's online site, odt.co.nz, is a finalist in the ``best news website" category, while the Weekend Mix is again up for an award in the "best newspaper-inserted magazine" section.
ODT reporters also featured. Chris Morris is a finalist in two categories - ``crime and/or social issues" and ``best individual investigation" - while George Block is a finalist in the ``science and technology" section.
In the photography awards, the ODT's Stephen Jaquiery (general) and Linda Robertson (news/sport) feature.
The Star (Dunedin) is a finalist in ``Community Newspaper of the Year", while Daisy Hudson (Mountain Scene) has been nominated in the ``Community Journalist of the Year" section.
The winners will be announced on May 17 in Auckland.
