The Otago Art Society presents original works in a dozen mediums by 29 member artists from across the region in the gallery of the Lakes District Museum from Saturday until April 13.
Society president Jenny Longstaff, of Dunedin, said on Friday she originally made the gallery booking 12 months ago for her own art.
However, she decided to expand her solo exhibition into a show for the entire society when she became president late last year.
The title of the exhibition, ''From City to Central'', referenced the Dunedin-based society getting out of its comfort zone of the Dunedin Railway Station to raise awarenesss of what members do and to encourage new recruits, Ms Longstaff said.
''It's high standard and quite different subject matter, from realist to abstract. Some are landscapes and Arrowtown scenes while some are overseas scenes.
''I left it up to the artists to decide what to put in.''
Among the names of note are printmaker Audrey Bascand, photographer Matheson Beaumont and versatile artist Pauline Bellamy.
Works will be on sale for between $120 and $2200.
