A crowd takes in the ocean view at an early morning yoga class on St Clair Beach on Saturday as part of the Wild Dunedin Festival.

Instructor Jo Woolley said the event was a perfect fit for the 10-day festival, as it was all about connecting people to nature.

Thirty people took part, and the sunrise starting time awakened them to the beauty of nature, Ms Woolley said.

The session began with a 10-minute walk, followed by an hour-long yoga class.

"It helps the mind to relax, and puts you in a very good, positive space. The group are looking at the ocean throughout the class, and I feel it helps to take people away from their busy lives."
