Nature lover Chris McCormack got a special surprise on his birthday, spotting two orca whales in Otago Harbour.
In November last year, Mr McCormack encountered a small pod while kayaking just off Taiaroa Head and believes he saw two of them again yesterday.
"It was a lucky sight, especially being on my birthday. It was a special treat."
Mr McCormack, operations manager at the Royal Albatross Centre, took a video of the whales cruising in the harbour off Harrington Point.
