The society held its annual Summer Flower Show during the weekend. There were about 380 entries this year, about 40 more than in 2013, president Joy Morton said.
Visitor numbers were also up on last year. This summer's wetter weather was probably the reason for the influx of entries as it brought with it ideal growing conditions, she said.
She was pleased with the interest from the public and the efforts of the society's members.
''We have had a considerable number of people come through,'' she said.
''We are very pleased with the entries and very pleased with the amount of people ... through the show.''
The Dunedin Horticultural Society, New Zealand's oldest, will hold its next show on May 4-5.
