Brighton house fire

Firefighters using breathing apparatus last night quickly extinguished a house fire which began in a garage at this Pearse St, Brighton, property.

Firefighters were alerted at 8.48pm, and three fire appliances, including from Brighton and Lookout Point, attended the blaze, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said.

Police helped with traffic control, but the matter was not suspicious and had not been referred to police, a Fenz spokesman said.
