A burst water main in Koremata St, Green Island, caused some disruption to residents and motorists on Saturday morning.

A sinkhole, thought to be caused by the burst main, opened up in the road near the Main South Rd intersection.

When the Otago Daily Times visited the scene again on Sunday, the hole had been filled in.

A tanker was on site on Saturday afternoon to supply water to residents, a Dunedin City Council spokesperson said.

The cause of the burst main had yet to be identified, they said.
