No further complaints have been laid about problems with Dunedin Passenger Transport bus services following disruptions to some routes on Monday.
The company put the problems down to a lack of drivers, sickness and the extra week of annual leave it was now required to give its staff.
Dunedin Passenger Transport director Kayne Baas said the situation continued to be tight this week, but next week two drivers were coming up from the Invercargill depot and he had 10 prospective drivers waiting for licence clearance before they began training.
"Things will get better. We are trying to keep contracts covered and we alert the regional council when things get tight,'' Mr Baas said.
Otago Regional Council policy and resource planning director Fraser McRae said the council was heartened by the efforts put in to improve the situation.
The company would face penalties, as contained in its contract, for non-delivery. This would mean it would not get paid for mileage not travelled.
