A woman was treated by St John after her car crashed through a wooden fence outside a Dunedin childcare centre, falling several feet and striking a pole and a parked car.

Emergency services were called to Kiddies Campus off York Pl in central Dunedin about 1.30pm.

Acting sergeant Graham Perkins said he understood the woman had received "seatbelt-related injuries" after her car fell four foot through the fence, landing in the car park of a neighbouring business.

There was minor damage to the vehicle, and to another vehicle in park.

According to police the woman was in her 50s or 60s.

Acting sergeant Perkins said it was possible the crash was caused by the driver striking the accelerator accidentally.
