Car hits power pole in South Dunedin

Two crashes in Dunedin this afternoon caused a road closure and minor injuries.

A car hit a power pole on South Road, Caversham, near Sidey St at 4.20pm.

Police said the crash caused power lines to fall on the road, and Delta was called to assist.

The section of road was closed and traffic diverted while that work was done.

A St John spokesman said ambulance officers dealt with three patients, two females in their 20s and one child.

All three had minor injuries, and were taken to Dunedin Hospital by ambulance.

Police were also called to a one-car crash at 4.21pm on the Allanton-Waihola Road, just south of the Dunedin Airport turnoff.

St John said one female patient had minor injuries, and was assessed and treated at the scene.
