There were no hard feelings from a Dunedin homeowner who offered a ride home to a young woman driver whose car became stuck in their concrete fence.
The 22-year-old woman was driving with some friends in Crown St, North East Valley at 11.45pm on Tuesday when she got the brake and accelerator pedals confused while turning, Sergeant Matt Lee said.
Her car shot backwards and smashed through her friend’s neighbour’s concrete fence before coming to rest against their house.
She tried to move her car, but became stuck in an un-smashed part of their concrete fence.
The neighbour’s home had some broken weatherboards from the collision.
Emergency services were called, and a towage firm removed her car.
There were apparently no hard feelings as the homeowners gave the woman and her friends a lift home, Sgt Lee said.
There were no reported injuries and alcohol was not a factor.
• At 12.49am yesterday, a 26-year-old woman’s vehicle ended up partially submerged in Otago Harbour.
She took a right-hand bend in Portobello Rd too quickly and lost traction, Sgt Lee said.
The vehicle hit the concrete kerb of the cycle lane and ended up with the back of the vehicle in the harbour.
The woman and her two passengers managed to exit the vehicle.
One passenger was treated by Hato Hone St John at the scene for head pain.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, Sgt Lee said.
