The return of the Careys Bay Regatta was so much fun there is talk of it again becoming an annual event.

Carey’s Bay Hotel co-owner Jo Kidston, who organised the event, said she was really happy with the regatta’s return  after a two-decade hiatus. About 25 entrants took part in a series of five races, which attracted a good crowd who shopped at about a dozen stalls as bands played for several hours during yesterday’s event.

Ms Kidston said the weather co-operated with the community event and paddleboard, kayaks, dinghy rowing, Seagull outboard, and an open boat race — won by a fishing boat — entertained the crowd.

Otago Daily Times photographer Gregor Richardson took it all in.
