Two cars have been significantly damaged in a three-car crash on Vogel St in Dunedin.

The crash happened before 6pm today on the corner of Vogel St and Jetty St.

A friend (who did not want to be named) of the occupants of a Mazda Demio involved in the crash said the driver of a blue Ford Mondeo failed to give way when driving down Jetty St. It crashed into the Mazda, which was driving down Vogel St, at speed.

Both cars were damaged, with the front of the Mazda Demio coming right off.

After the first collision, the driver of the Ford Mondeo then crashed into a Nissan Safari parked under the overbridge next to Jetty St.

The friend of the occupants said no one was injured in the incident.

The Fire Service was called to the scene after some smoke was seen coming from the Ford Mondeo.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
