Port Otago civil engineer Andy Pullar said the trucks were making the first of three visits to the wharf over the next couple of days.
They were loading cement into a pump on board the barge, which was putting material into precast units that would sit on top of the wharf’s piles.
Once the wharf became operational again vessels would berth up against the precast units.

The ageing, 1930s Ravensbourne wharf is undergoing a multimillion-dollar refurbishment.
When the work began in October, Port Otago commercial manager Craig Usher said the structure was no longer fit for purpose. Considerable work was needed to bring it back to meet the standard required for its extensive use by the Ravensdown fertiliser works, he said.
The wharf is expected to be operational again by early March.
