A Christchurch man is facing multiple charges following an early morning car theft which resulted in a crash yesterday.
Sergeant Nathan White, of Dunedin, said police were called to the crash site near Waikouaiti about 6am, with the sole occupant processed for drink-driving.
The disqualified driver was also charged with the theft of the vehicle, stolen outside the Otago Daily Times building in the Dunedin CBD and owned by a shift-worker.
Before the crash, the vehicle had been seen in Pine Hill, police said.
The man was not injured in the crash.
He was expected to appear in the Dunedin District Court next week.
