Charges follow manhunt in city

A man who gave himself up to police after a large manhunt on Friday appeared in Dunedin District Court on Saturday charged with a string of burglaries.

Justin Mane Paul (38), who was arrested in Chambers St, Dunedin, at noon on Friday after a search in Northeast Valley, was charged on five counts of entering a building without authority and with intent to commit a crime.

Paul was alleged to have entered buildings on Stafford St, Castle St, Bank St, Maitland St and Barclay St, between October 6 and 9.

He was remanded in custody to reappear on November 6.
