One of China's leading acrobatic and cultural troupes will give its only South Island public performance at the Regent Theatre, Dunedin, next Thursday.
Dunedin Chinese Gardens Trust chairman Malcolm Wong said the Wuhan Acrobatic and Cultural Troupe show would celebrate 2017, the Year of the Rooster, and would ''immerse the whole family in the beauty and excitement of China's evocative arts'', Mr Wong said.
The event would feature acrobatics from one of China's oldest troupes, with the singers, musicians and dancers from the Wuhan Singing and Dancing Theatre, from Wuhan in Central China.
The event would showcase Chinese culture and help raise funds for the Dunedin Chinese Garden, the Dunedin Chinese Scholar and Student Association and the New Zealand Chinese Association, Otago & Southland Branch.
The Wuhan Government had funded airfares, and other transport and accommodation costs for the 35 performers. The Dunedin Chinese groups needed to raise more than $20,000 to meet other costs of running the show.
