Club president Maureen Carruth was "thrilled" and committee members were "delighted" with the success of the four-hour event, which began at the South Dunedin Community Hall at 8pm.
The ball was a "milestone event" for the club, which had been dancing weekly at the hall, since being established in 1996, Mrs Carruth said.

About 20 attendees were from out of town, including Invercargill and Christchurch.
Among those enjoying the night was the club’s oldest member, Zita Menzies (89).
Club patron and Dunedin city councillor John Bezett and his wife Carol attended.
Speeches made traced the club’s history and achievements.
The club once had 180 members, but this had dipped to 70 by 2006, before the rising popularity of dancing helped lift membership to 100, Mrs Carruth said.
Dancing was a great way of developing friendships, and the physical exercise also improved health, including helping ward off neurodegenerative diseases, she said.
