A Halfway Bush, Dunedin, couple have been granted consent to subdivide their rural property into two lots.
Tony and Lynette Guy applied to divide their Stephen St property, mostly zoned rural, in two, so their son could build a home on the new lot.
The committee considering the application noted the Guys had reached agreements with opposing submitters.
The applicants' proposed to trim large trees at the edge of the property, plant an evergreen screen and improve access to the property, with kerbing and channelling to intercept surface water flow.
The section had been planned with further development in mind and had not been farmed for many years and the house was relatively low-level and would be screened.
The committee concluded it was unlikely approving this non-complying subdivision would encourage more of the same.
