Seven female students were met by police following a return trip to Tunnel Beach in the dark.
A taxi driver who was meant to pick up the female students at 7pm, called police after the students failed to show at the agreed time, Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken said.
The women, who had been drinking, had underestimated the return trip from the beach, and were met by a police patrol at 9.30pm.
