A fire that ripped through a Dunedin house last night is being treated as suspicious.
The Fire Service was called to the property in Clemiston St, Corstorphine, about 10pm.
The house was ''fully involved'' when fire crews arrived.
Station officer Phillip De Rooy said fire units from Lookout Point, St Kilda, Roslyn and Dunedin attended, with four pumps in total.
He said fire safety officers would attend the scene this morning.
A neighbour, who asked not to be identified, said he understood the occupants of the privately owned home had been ''kicked out'' a week previously.
He had seen them moving out about three days ago. He made the call to the Fire Service after seeing ''a red glow'', and hearing ''popping'', like fireworks.
