Cull appointed vice-president of LGNZ

Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull has been appointed vice-president of Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ).

The appointment was made at today's LGNZ national council meeting.

Mr Cull will remain in the role until the organisation's annual meeting in July next year, when elections will be held for the president and vice president roles.

Mr Cull said he was pleased to have the opportunity to further represent the local government sector, particularly on major issues such as the Local Government Amendment Bill, managing water allocation and climate change.

LGNZ represents the national interests of councils in New Zealand.

Mr Cull has been on the LGNZ national council since 2010, and was recently  elected metro sector chairman.
