Ms Kidston said about 165 people including regulars and visitors from Wellington and Australia went to the ticketed red carpet event.
On entering, guests were greeted by a photographer and piper that piped them in. Entertainment included local band Cap’n Spoonbill and the Hoiho.
Ms Kidston said the celebration was amazing and it was "really special" for her to be a part of the history of the pub.
"Being able to share that with everybody was cool. It’s a lovely little pub with a really rich history and one of the oldest still operating."
